  • Cystitis

Cystitis is a painful bladder syndrome that affects millions of women worldwide. Now there is a natural product called d-mannose which can support urinary tract heath!

    What is Cystitis?

Millions of women every year are affected with cystitis. It is reported that over half of all women in the UK will get cystitis at some time during their life. However for many women it is not a one of occurrence but an ongoing battle, women who have suffered one UTI appear more susceptible to a recurrence of infection. Although more predominant in females it still affects men children and even our pets.

ystitis is the medical term for inflammation of the bladder. This occurs when bacteria enter the bladder causing an infection, also referred to as a urinary tract infection. Up to 90% of all urinary tract infections are caused by a bacterium called Escherichia, more commonly known as ‘e-coli’. Not only is a bladder infection at best annoying at worst extremely painful, if left untreated it can become a serious health problem if the infection spreads to the kidneys A simple urine test will determine the cause of the infection. This can be done through a medical practitioner.

Nature supplies d-mannose is effective in the removal of e-coli from our urinary tract. Once the cause of infection has been determined you have a choice of what to do. The conventional treatment is to prescribe a course of antibiotic, however the conventional method is certainly not the only way forward and nor is it always the best. There is a substantial amount of information currently available on the World Wide Web about d-mannose and its ability to cure bladder infections. This is not only from resellers who will naturally promote their product, the positive feedback from studies and trials can also be found along with numerous user forums and testimonials from individuals who not only know it works but also want as many others as possible to know their really is light at the end of the tunnel. Unlike many other alternatives remedies for bladder/cystitis infections, such as the effects of cranberry juice, the effect of d-mannose does not appear to be disputed any where. Why because it really is a safe non toxic highly effective alternative to antibiotics. What d-mannose does not do- It has no adverse side effects, and will not cause gastrointestinal problems, become a precursor of yeast infections and does not become resistant to bacteria.

    How d-mannose works

Molecules of mannose are naturally occurring inside the lining cells of the urinary tract. E coli that invades the bladder and urinary tract system, express fimbria (these are molecular hairs which have lectins).once e coli invade the bladder, a bio-molecular attachment occurs which locks the e-coli to the mannose receptors. For many people this would be quickly dealt with by the immune system and white blood cells. However If not dealt with quickly enough infection will arise. This is where we make a choice, either use anti-biotic treatment and kill not only the e coli but also numerous other good bacterium, or simply provide the body with a much richer supply of mannose than the e coli can currently find in the tissue cells, unable to resist the natural attraction to d-mannose, adhesion will occur when the e-coli are coated in free floating mannose molecules in the urine which are then evacuated from the body during voiding
